About Organization

Having hailed from the oppressed and most Backward Classes of the Indian Society; the executive members of the Organization are very conscious about the Dalit Bahujan pains and struggles. These pillars of the organization faced many a challenges from the dominating castes from their childhood and organized many lawful agitations in their younger days for protection of Human rights which are the Dalit Bahujan’s Birth rights.

In the inception, they used to fight against the social evils, independently. Later on, They all realized the need for unity among Dalit Bahujan activists and the need for systematic and constructive organization to lead all these challenging activities.

about

This noble thought guided them to form “Society for Rural Agriculturists and Mass Awareness (SRAMA) with certain objectives which envisaged empowering Dalit Bahujan Communities by alleviating poverty which is the root-cause of their distress.

Initially, the executive members of “SRAMA” formed Agricultural labor unions to fight against labor exploitation in the Agricultural sector. The fertile land which is the main resource of livelihood here, held-up in the hands of the Land Lords. The oppressed remained as land less poor and work in the fields for their daily Bread. The wages they get are very meager and insufficient for survival. Hence SRAMA organized Dharnas to raise the daily wages. As a result the minimum wages were raised up to marginally at Rs.250/- day.

As the immediate next step, “SRAMA” entered in to the issue of “Field Labor Co-operative Societies (FLCS) which are being de-activated due to illiteracy of Dalits. When “SRAMA” noticed majority of the Lanka Lands belonging to FLCS are in the hands of Dominating Caste people. SRAMA conducted village meetings and revived the FLCS and their existence for Dalit Empowerment.

Right Now, “SRAMA” is striving hard for searching resources to strengthen these most neglected communities by supporting them to fight against atrocities, Social Cultural and political oppressions as well as inequality.

Generating Awareness among Dalit Bahujan on different issues like legal rights, Human Rights women and child rights, Domestic Violence, Health issues like Malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, Clean and Green is being Continued by “SRAMA” in the Dalit Bahujan localities as a regular process.
